Why I'm hedging my career in comms with code

In the work that I do, my main goal is to help people understand and enjoy information that communicates a clear message. Up until recently, my main focus was achieving this goal through manual, static design. However, with the abundance of no-code and AI creative applications, I believe that the ability to understand and write code is becoming an increasingly important skill for graphic designers and communication specialists to differentiate themselves and create quality—and ideally unique—end products.

Design, coupled with the ability to code, offers limitless possibilities in the world of information design. Good communications is no longer about designing for aesthetics (though aesthetics is still a primary concern). Today, we must be able to create dynamic experiences, which are optimized for functionality across a range of platforms.
